Charles Spencer, uncle to Prince William and Prince Harry, reiterated his stance regarding the ongoing rift between his nephews.
Princess Diana’s younger brother—who has stated that his views were disregarded when he opposed the idea of the young William and Harry walking behind their mother’s coffin—explained how he truly feels about the brothers’ estrangement.
The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex have not spoken for nearly four years, and there are no signs of reconciliation.
Commenting on a recently released memoir about Diana, Earl Spencer clarified that he was not criticizing the King, nor did he intend to do so; he is simply trying to share a story about his sister.
Spencer was then asked about the fact that, given William and Harry are not speaking, Diana would want her children to have a good relationship “more than anything else in the world.”
“Every mother would want her children to have a good relationship. And I’m just an uncle, you know, and I’m here if either of them ever needs anything from me,” he said. He noted that he “would never dare to get involved in this.” He stated that the rifts are a “personal” matter and it is up to the individuals themselves to act as they see fit.
