According to reports, Prince William’s idea to restore Princess Diana’s “Her Royal Highness” (HRH) title has infuriated Prince Harry. He is reportedly concerned that this permanent gesture by his older brother regarding their mother could overshadow his own planned tribute. The documentary the Duke is reportedly preparing for the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death in August 2027 is already sparking discussion and making headlines. Now, the Prince of Wales is reportedly considering the posthumous restoration of the HRH title, which his mother lost following her divorce from King Charles in 1996. However, the Palace has not officially announced any such plan.
As reported by RadarOnline.com, a Palace source stated: “Harry is furious because he feels William holds a card that he simply cannot play. Harry can make a documentary, give interviews, and highlight Diana’s humanitarian work, but William is the heir to the throne and wields a completely different kind of influence within the monarchy.”
The source added: “If William ultimately succeeds in restoring something that had been stripped from their mother, Harry views that as a hugely significant move.” A TV show comes and goes, whereas restoring Diana’s HRH title in the historical record would have lasting significance. From Harry’s perspective, there is a risk that anything he produces himself might seem of secondary importance.
